Hanesbrands Axes 75 Jobs in Distribution Center Closure

North Carolina-based Hanesbrands will permanently close its High Point, North Carolina, distribution center on January 31, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice filed by the company on November 1. The closure will impact 75 jobs. The shutdown comes after Hanesbrands’ June decision to sell its Champion athletic apparel business to Authentic Brands Group for $1.2 billion. The High Point distribution center primarily focused on the Champion brand.
ITMA ASIA + CITME 2024 Enjoys Strong Local Attendance

The trade show attracted a visitorship of about 90,000, with strong local attendance. The visitors came from 111 countries and regions. 87% of the visitors were from China. Local visitors came from 31 provinces and cities. Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Guangdong, Shandong, Fujian, Hebei, Henan, Anhui, and Hubei ranked in the top ten, demonstrating the strong vitality of the textile industry in these regions and the interest in new textile machinery trends.
Former Biden Official Says President Will Issue De Minimis Proposal Before End of Year

Speaking on a Cart.com webinar, Tim Manning, former White House COVID-19 supply coordinator in the Biden-Harris administration, said he is “100% confident” the administration will issue a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on the matter soon. The notice, or NPRM, is a document detailing an agency’s plan for a particular problem or goal before being implemented as a final rule.

Gildan Gains Market Share in Printwear, But Still Sees Decline in Underwear Sales

Gildan Activewear Inc. reported third quarter revenue of $891 million, a 2.4% increase year over year, according to a recent press release. The results mark a Q3 revenue record for the company. Sales in its activewear division, which represents 88% of its business, grew 6% to $788 million. However, Gildan’s hosiery and underwear business dropped 18% to $103 million. The company attributed the decline to phasing out its business with Under Armour and an “unfavorable mix and continued broader market weakness in underwear.”
Denim Meets Decarbonization: Levi’s Unveils First Climate Transition Plan

Denim giant Levi Strauss & Co. is committing to achieve net-zero emissions across its supply chain by 2050, the company said in its first climate transition plan unveiled October 16. The apparel manufacturer also set a few near-term sustainability targets, including a goal to reduce absolute scope 1 and scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 90% by 2025, compared to a 2016 baseline, as well as a goal to cut absolute scope 3 emissions by 42% by 2030, compared to a 2022 baseline.
VF Says Brands Will Be ‘Anchored in Performance’ as It Outlines Growth Agenda at Investor Day

The parent company to Vans, The North Face, and more brands announced a new set of medium term financial targets during its investor day, which included achieving an adjusted operating margin of at least 10%, adjusted gross margin of at least 55%, and adjusted SG&A as a percentage of revenue of 45% or less, all by fiscal year 2028. VF also rolled out broader targets for the business, such as keeping its brands “anchored in the performance category with style elements that further expand the platform for growth.”

AATCC Announces Gregg Woodcock as Incoming Executive Director
