#1 Legacy Series Part II: Chat with Former VF Corporation Chairman & CEO Mackey McDonald (November 2020)
The most-viewed article of 2024 was a fun surprise (and kind of a cheat) because we actually wrote this article back in 2020. But we shared it again last month after Mackey McDonald, former VF Corporation Chairman and CEO, was inducted into the Kontoor Brands Hall of Fame. Mackey was chosen to be the first to receive this esteemed denim-clad honor due to his impactful leadership within the company and his contributions to the Greensboro, North Carolina, community.
Mackey also happens to be the father of SPESA President Michael McDonald. So, when our team began the Behind the Seams “Legacy Series,” interviewing SPESA members and industry leaders with familial/generational ties to the industry, it was a no-brainer to include Mackey and his decades of experience. His guidance has been invaluable to the SPESA team and the greater sewn products industry.
And, although Michael is the only other McDonald to follow Mackey into the industry so far, with nine grandkids to recruit from, Mackey’s legacy may very well continue to grow.
